Although most of these queries are still unanswered completely, plastic waste recycling has made some headway in recent years. In our previous blog Plastic Waste problem size, we discussed about how Plastic has almost become a part of our diet. Furthermore, videos like; How Much Plastic is in the Ocean? - Sad Story of 3 Plastic Bottles give excellent information tagging with some amazing figures and show the oversight of the damage that unthoughtful plastic disposal has done to us. It is really amazing that we so easily blindfold ourselves from these things - NOT thinking even a moment before we throw that Plastic Bottle after consuming the content within it...

The process for plastic recycling is simple and entails – Collection of disposed Plastic> Washing it> Crunching plastic into Bundles> Shredding the bundles> Heating the shredded plastic> Converting it into small Plastic Pellets> Ready to be reused as Raw plastic> convert back into Plastic Items. To overcome this, BiG has now initiated a campaign, giving a Structured and Culture oriented process to this problem of Plastic Disposal. There are many institutions that collect Plastic to get it recycled and two of the most popular and effective Plastic recycling organizations are -

Sagar Mitra Abhiyaan - They organize sessions in various schools to demonstrate the impact of Plastic, depicting the Plastic recycle process and most importantly tying up with the schools for plastic waste collection. They have also shared some amazing figures of their Disposal Plastic Collections made through Children of Schools.

Rudra Environmental Solution - They collect disposed off Plastic and convert the same into fuel and recycled products. These are then used in manufacturing various industrial and household items, thus contributing in controlling the Plastic Disposal issue.

BiG (Bridge industry Gap) is initiating a Collection Unit that would collect and in-turn contribute the disposed plastic to these recycling organizations. The plastic would be collected from various public places and public meeting points. The disposed off plastic would be then bundled, packed and sent to one of the recycling organizations for further processing. We are running a campaign through our Website, Social sites, Direct contacts to help environment conscious citizens find a viable solution for plastic recycling. With this initiative, we hope to reduce Unthoughtful Plastic Disposal, creating awareness and gradually targeting a - Mindset change.

This is purely a social cause and no commercial commitments are attached with this initiative. All the cost incurred for managing and coordinating the logistics would be our small contribution to the society, under our Corporate Social Responsibility.
